I received my proper electricity bill this morning - more laughs.

Here is latest email from NPOWER and I have included my reply at the end:

Thank you for your email. As a member of the Executive Complaints Team, this has passed to me in order to respond to you directly.

A message was left on your mobile's voicemail on 12 August 2010 requesting that you contact me directly to discuss your concerns, however I did not receive a returned call from you to date.

Therefore after investigating the concerns that you have raised, I can confirm the following:

An amended electricity bill was produced and issued on 30 July 2010 showing charges to the meter reading 0928 which you kindly recorded on 15 July 2010. As you must not have not received this bill, I have arranged for a copy to be sent to sent to you today which you will receive within 2-3 working days. I have also placed a hold on your account for 14 days which will allow time for the bill to be received by you and payment to be received.

The gas balance of £124.96 is correct and relates to charges to 20 July 2010 and the actual reading 1290 taken by a meter reading on that date. Your current tariff is 7.253 pence per kilowatt (kWh) higher rate (up to maximum 4572 kWh per annum and 2.407 pence per kilowatt (kWh) follow on NOT 7.253 and 2.407 pence per unit. Therefore, your assumption that you are charged on average 58 pence per unit is correct as although one electricity unit equates to one kWh, one gas unit equates to approximately 11.36 kWh.

As agreed, I have also arranged for a 14 day hold to be placed on your gas account which will stop any further collections letters, however should you wish more time to pay the outstanding gas balance or still have concerns, I would appreciate if you could contact me directly on 0845 0730861 and I will be only too happy to help.

Miss Gyde, I trust that this information has clarified the matter.

Kind regards,

David Riseborough

Dear David Riseborough

Please attempt to answer the question that I actually asked, in relation to my gas bill and how I was charged the same 'band' amount for two very different usages - relating to two different gas meters. I am quite sure that I have repeated this question enough times.

Secondly, thank you for my 'amended' electricity bill which I received this morning, 17th August 2010.

I regret to say that this electricity bill needs to be investigated along the same lines as my gas bill. I would advise you to do so immediately.

The simple fact being that for a period of about 3 months (see the 24th May 2010 electricity bill) I used 447kWh and was charged £61.74.

For the next period of about 6 months (see 30th July 2010 electricity bill) I used 913kWh and was charged £26.21.

Please apply the 'band' that you were using for the 30th July 2010 electricity bill to my entire electricity bill, send me an amended bill and refund me the difference. Ms McNaughton-Steele calculated that the entire supposed electricity bill came to £131.17 (see her letter of 30th July 2010).

Naturally I will want to see this amount greatly reduced to the general figure of £1 p.w. rather than about £6 p.w. upon the amended electricity bill that you will now be so kind as to send me, a.s.a.p.

Kindly do the same, regarding my gas bill.

Kind regards

Emily Gyde
