...and so bizarrely enough - they then got the album cover out and decided to learn the lyrics - isn't life strange? I remember watching them do it...and they were fascinated by what the lyrics actually meant...and discussed them according to what they knew about USA history...

They had formerly only liked the song because of the inherent violent passion...that it invoked...

Anyway, I can now see that SPRINGSTEEN did something brilliant...which had been horribly misinterpreted by the 'meatheads' who simply tuned into the 'violence' and fed off it..and unfortunately the song appeared to pass by, the vast majority of UK teenagers who loved that song but hadn't bothered to find out what the lyrics were...and now I wonder about USA audiences?
