I remember now…ROBERT DE NIRO asking us to think up ways in which young people could enjoy themselves, work off excess energy and ’risk-take’ without listening to BEAT music and taking drugs/drinking alcohol…
…and I remembered the HOLLIDAYS and their friends…going ‘badger-watching’…all up a tree - just before sundown…but then SARAH dropped her tobacco tin from a great height and the clatter echoed for miles around…so we all had to come down again…it was all a bit dangerous because BADGERS have been known to attack humans so just as well - I mean if one of us had fallen out of the tree…
I also remember this group of friends stopping in a town by DARTMOOR…a very hot summer’s day…to join the local youth in jumping off a 40 foot bridge into the river below…I managed it but I have never been so frightened in all of my life…and I was still ‘high’ a few days later on…buzzing with renewed self-confidence…
KATE told us all a story about being in the bush in Africa…and how they had all gone swimming…one lady had had ¾ of her bottom bitten off by a crocodile and KATE had had to hold a large artery closed, during the rocky jeep journey back to civilization and the nearest hospital - the woman survived……
I then thought about sky-diving…get GILL to strap you to him, jump off TRUMP tower, lose consciousness on the way down as you hit the building etc etc…
GILL then suggested CROCODILE FIGHTING….in order to give teenagers a ‘natural high’…
Yes I am sure that BADGER SET watching might seem a little tame but at the end of the day, most teenagers would probably opt for that one rather than ‘in a pit with a crocodile’…
MCDONALD then mentioned the ROYAL ill cult torture of pedalling a bike down a path through the forest, taking care to avoid sleeping KOMODO DRAGONS…
…so yes, we didn’t come up with ‘very sensible suggestions’…it was a difficult number…of course FAIRGROUNDS are less mentally and physically destructive than discos and drugs…but they are the biggest ill cult programming site out…so are BRONCO arenas…as in HORSE programming etc etc…
Personally I loved the GHOST TRAIN most of all…and what was the TUNNEL OF LOVE…something similar but in a boat on water?
