TACHE...TACHER...TACHETE - quite a few meanings in French but basically to 'stain'...to discolour...so no ideas...apart from my brother Humphrey calling my sister Helen the 'speckled egg'....he was referring to her freckles and TACHETE means speckled...whereas taches de rousseur means freckles...
The SPECKLED BAND - a SHERLOCK HOLMES mystery, read to us in the 4th year of LANGLEY SENIORS by our teacher MRS ELLIOT...meaning the skin of a snake...I am not sure where I am going with this one...
