So what about some sort of 'notice' when the water is turned off - isn't it polite to give people at least some warning?

What if you had been dying your hair with peroxide and suddenly you are left with NO WATER to wash it out with...and if you leave it on for more than 20 minutes...you risk all sorts of horrors...it might burn your scalp off...

That had happened to me in that TOTNES flat one morning...when I used to dye my hair blonde...and I had to race down to the bottom of the HIGH STREET to the nearest student flat (JACQUI and JO weren't answering their door - nobody was at the top of the HIGH STREET)...to get to the house that LAING shared with some second year art students to get into the shower there, to wash it off...nightmarish.
