I decided to find out about JAVA a bit more, this morning because two files keep on getting through my firewall and asking to make changes to the HARDWARE of this laptop:
Jucheck.exe
SUN SYSTEMS from JAVA
I then read this comment upon YAHOO about how NORTON is apparently blocking some JAVA files:
“Plus you should also delete your Java cache (temporary files), Java virus can hide in there.
That is easy to do. Simply delete your Java Cache by following the directions below:
Here are the instructions on how to manually remove these malicious applets from the JRE cache directory:
1. From the Start button (or orb), > Control Panel
2. In the Control Panel, open the "Java"
3. Select the General Tab
4. Click the Settings button inside the Temporary Internet Files box, then click the Delete files button then click OK twice. This will clear your JRE cache directory.
BTW, Norton has an extremly SMALL amount of false-positive detections”
Okay - so I read the above to see what I could work out about why two programs keep on getting through my firewall and asking to make changes to the HARDWARE of this laptop.
Firstly - jucheck.exe which isn’t the proper updater file for JAVA.
Secondly, I found that jucheck.exe pops up every time I click on the JAVA symbol in my browser. I cannot actually open JAVA at all. It simply asks me if I will let jucheck.exe make changes to the HARDWARE.
Thirdly I checked out the SUN SYSTEMS which also asks to make changes to the HARDWARE of this computer - claiming that it is part of the JAVA system.
I found that SUN SYSTEMS didn’t come up on my laptop ‘search menu’ at all - apart from one item which was THE SUN IS UP - BLUE TILE ROOF connection.
