NIR BERGMAN - this guy has apparently just won the TOKYO film festival - except that I know the above 'interview' was written by MARTIN GILL and will therefore be highly coded. He was with NIKOLAS HULBRUSCH at the time. Plus the photo looks like a cross between GILL and the actor who played THE HEBREW HAMMER.

Nir Bergman and actress Orly Zilbershatz attended the festival Israeli director Nir Bergman has picked up the top prize at the Tokyo Film Festival for the second time.

His film about a boy in the 60s who stops growing for three years was awarded the $50,000 (£31,100) Sakura Grand Prix, beating 14 other movies.

Intimate Grammar follows on from Bergman's previous Tokyo win in 2002, for his film Broken Wings.

Sarah's Key, a French film about a Jewish family living through World War II, won the audience award.

Its director, Gilles Paquet-Brenner, won the best direction prize.

Kaneto Shindo, a 98-year-old Japanese director, won the special jury prize for Post Card, about the impact of World War II on the residents of a rural Japanese community.

Shindo used the occasion to announce his retirement, telling the audience: "I heartily hope all of you will do well and create good movies."

Oscar-winning Irish director, Neil Jordan, headed up the festival's jury. The event closed on Sunday.
