Anyway, the egg plucked from your forehead is the COSMIC EGG as in your 'knowledge'...you are indicating that there is 'nobody home anymore' in your head...which leaves you open to possession...

I might add that SCARLETT was an odd case, writing his thesis...I read it first and began to cross out the many:

I repent I recant...I repent I recant...

...which SCARLETT had written so many times (they all used ballpoint) that I remarked to MCDONALD:

"Did somebody tell him to write lines?"

Anyway, I suppose he got the general gist of it all...one has to repent and recant and then the requirement was to give reasons why...except that he appeared to be taking the piss - as if he were in a schoolroom...

Other than that...the word RECANT reminded me of the religious wars...of the REFORMATION and COUNTER-REFORMATION in Europe...people were always 'recanting' from one religion to the next - from Catholicism to Protestantism and back again...priests tended to say that they 'recanted' so the word is associated with religious belief...

Anyway, MCDONALD then had to sit in with SCARLETT for hours...getting him to see that it was a necessary requirement to give reasons for the 'repenting and recanting'...SCARLETT seemed to be quite 'constipated' at first...but eventually he was in 'free flow'...talking about SATANISM/ALEISTER CROWLEY...how he had been so attracted to the whole lot...it went on and on...MCDONALD was to describe it as a 'mournful dirge'...
