I was thinking about that number 1 hit by DAVID ESSEX the other day:

HOLD ME CLOSE (don't let me go)

I got it confused with his other number 1 hit LAMPLIGHT...because I can remember DAVID ESSEX upon a 'set' swinging around an old-fashioned LONDON street lamp...I think that it was on TOP OF THE POPS...was he singing HOLD ME CLOSE whilst swinging around a STREET LAMP...the lamp was just like that NARNIA one...

TODDY is now saying 'it's the gypsies - oh G-d'...he is thinking about PIERRE FESCHOTTE in relation to the GYPSIES...yes, I can remember now, my mother had said that there were some tales surrounding a gypsy internment camp but COLETTE had dismissed them...so I cannot say if it was true or not...

DAVID ESSEX was reputedly a direct descendent of the real ROMANY GYPSIES...or something like that...I remember reading it in 'JACKIE'.
