Here is that DITKO book...

The illustration of the 'timetravel machine' is from one of the stories and it 'says it all' about inter-dimensional work...and also the fact that the ill had decided that it should be cone-shaped...in the actual story...there is an image of a beehive...and I was told by TODDY that this was intentional...'what is this honey?'...'it looks like a beehive'...'correct' etc...



There is also a lot of EGG imagery in the above comic strip...

Anyway, the last GREY image upon the hardback cover...AMADEUS thought that this one was the most important and it chimes in with the imagery of the last story...which TOMLINSON (untalented comicstrip artist) was made to act out with RIK ALLEN (talented comicstrip artist)...they had to enact those roles out...TOMLINSON was supposed to murder RIK and throw him downstairs...whereupon RIK would come back and haunt him...channelling through him to create 'great works' and finally to kill TOMLINSON whilst making him draw how he murdered RIK...all rubbish of course - but everybody 'got into it' for some reason...I can remember walking in whilst they were filming and asking RIK - why are you smoking cigarettes - you don't smoke...he had taken up 'French cigarettes' for the part...

the real meaning behind that last comic strip is as I have described about those like DR MUDD and JADE...'they stay alive long after they are physically dead'...like electrified frogs...

Anyway, that GREY illustration has a reference to GUERNICA I am sure of it...i can remember GILL stopping on the stairs of 14 ST BERNARDS to stare at a reproduction because it reminded him of the GREY painting...he asked me what it was...i told him - and added that my parents had recently brought it back from BARCELONA as far as I can remember...oddly enough this was the first holiday that my parents had taken without the rest of us 'children' in tow...that I can remember...
