Yes, that was another odd thing about MARTIN GILL - he didn't sound like real cockneys...whereas his sister did...she had an authentic dialect and accent whereas he didn't...he was doing B/W period piece British film dramas where the CRIMINAL is an actor 'doing' the accent/dialect...

Maybe that is why - and perhaps people picked that one up, subliminally - GILL was such an ACTOR and a 'comic piece' to those who liked him...to those that had got on the wrong side of him - he was far from that.
