Thinking about that one now - if I had given in to their demands and all of the subsequent 'debt collection' agencies - to whom the debt was then sold off to...I would have overpaid BRITISH GAS around £600 which I could not afford...the tampered meter had effectively diddled me out of £300 and that was roughly what BRITISH GAS were asking me to pay again.
