Okay so here is the HMSO record for yesterday and today in relation to HIGH TIDE:

17 JULY - 03.29am - 15.48pm

So yesterday, the BBC staff had changed LOW to HIGH upon their webpage for CLACTON.

...and I had turned up when the tide had reached peak HIGH TIDE and was now receding - according to the HMSO.

Let us return to their entry for today - for CLACTON:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast/tides/east.shtml

"UK tides information for all standard and secondary ports is provided to the BBC Weather Centre by the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO). This allows us to provide an on-line six day tidal prediction service aimed at leisure mariners, holidaymakers and enthusiasts of coastal pursuits. Find out more about tides in our features section (see right). The locations are loosely divided up into 'regional' sections around the coastline, but these may not correspond exactly with geographic, political or BBC TV regional boundaries."

All i can say is this - if the ill cult try that one again upon their BBC site - you could SUE them for erroneous information because they do not have a 'disclaimer' upon this site - like the TENDRING DISTRICT COUNCIL does - in relation to the HMSO and UK HYDROGRAPHIC OFFICE.
