let me get the year right...it was in fact earlier than 1989...I was dressed in my father's old grey tweed jacket and my hair was up under a cap to make me look suitably androgynous on CCTV...and I had that jacket whilst staying with PEN HOPGOOD in Tooting Bec, as far as I can recall...upon a 'DARTINGTON art placement' in LONDON...so it was most probably 1988.

....and two years later - RIMINGTON was to become DIRECTOR GENERAL of MI5...and no it didn't come as a surprise at all...she had managed to memorise all ALICE IN WONDERLAND mind control commands...
