and that's a modern version of what I was trying to describe...so the noise frightens the birds...but the object is not to shoot the birds...I got things a little bit 'confused' back there....or maybe I didn't...because I can remember watching 'both' at the same time...projectiles released and men shooting at birds...go figure.
oh and I can remember a joke around 'when the bough breaks the baby will fall'...in relation to 'no bird'....and also something around a conflation of skeet and the cardgame skat...go figure....
