http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=safe

an article on yahoo news made me laugh this morning....and it is all about 'slang' and the word 'safe'...

the word 'safe'...

well in 1980...prince charles and princess anne had used it as in the 'safety dance' popvideo (the nazi one - see previous notes) and princess anne used to use the word 'care' as in 'carex' programming to pretend that she cared about ill cult slaves....

having had a look at the slang index for 'safe' and its possible uses...well that reminded me of the rebel group in clacton - why?

well the way in which it is now used - is very similar to the way in which they used it...because the ill were stalking/hunting them down and so everything had to be thoroughly checked....absolutely everything and so the question "is he/she/it safe?" was a very common one - in relation to strangers/phone calls/food and drink...you name it....as you can imagine...

and now the unspoken question 'is he/she/it safe?' appears to have become a 'fashion'...well probably not just a fashion i would have said because nothing comes out of a vacuum - does it?

so if i were teaching a class and students were annoying me with 'overuse' of that word...i might just tell them about my own experience...either that or i would laugh and say 'are we all SAFE today, class? well then put on your safety belts and we'll begin...'
