are we finished with the valentine's theme today, yet? it is the 15th february...well apparently not because this account - has just 'come back' and it relates to 'joan' whilst working with SCARLETT'S POLICE in their office....

joan's first job in the police had been a mainly administrative/secretarial one...she had dealt with most of the correspondence within a small office...this is going back quite a few years now...cctv had just come in and one of the officers had been assigned responsibility for the tapes...cctv for the police carpark...

now a policewoman in that station had been having an affair with the 'boss' of said office...anyway, he was to 'break it off' in a rather brutal and abrupt fashion...two of the three men who frequented that office were equally brutal...."he doesn't want to know luv- give it a rest" etc etc when she politely inquired after him...which then used to result in more tissues and tears, in the doorway...she was really heart-broken at the time...

anyway, joan was to take pity on her because she knew that in order to put the woman's mind at rest...well it didn't hurt to give her updates, did it?....simple stuff like where the boss would be that morning - which she was entitled to know, anyway....

and that fateful morning joan was to tell her that the boss would be off-site at a meeting some place...he had to be there at a certain time...

the policewoman had a look out of that 'top window' over the carpark...to see '2 of the 3 men' in that office...doing something to the boss' car....she wondered what was going on...she kept on wondering...until eventually she used a mobile to leave a message (he was refusing to take her calls)...to tell him what she had seen that morning....

well you can probably guess what that was all about...the 'boss' had not put those men's names forward for promotion....and they had wanted him out of the way...they had then 'fixed' his car, with a view to 'fixing' the cctv later on....he found out....and joan was to oversee the whole aftermath - through the correspondence in that office...

it was all very 'hush hush' and she wasn't allowed to say a word about it, in the office...all i can remember is that it was firstly seen as an 'internal matter' and dealt with through some 'tribunal'...the boss was then told that it would be very unwise to prosecute...even though it had quite obviously been 'attempted murder'....the two men were then moved to another station...something like that...anyway, they disappeared....

and what of the policewoman who had 'seen it all'? well, they didn't get back together again....the boss was to tell her "you're effing BAD LUCK"...and to turn his back upon her.

she was to gain 'insight' into her ill-starred love affair with him, after that one....she began to gain a perspective upon the whole matter....'you're effing bad luck' was to rip the rose-tinted specs from her eyes....she had just saved his life, you see...and then how was she to be repaid?

joan was to recount the whole story 'for the first time' in the safety of SCARLETT'S POLICE office....the first time that she had thought about the whole 'taboo horror' for so many years...and she had no idea why some of the male detectives then started to laugh....what was so funny?

you see...when you have lived through something...in an office...where the very subject is 'taboo'...and joan had never talked about any of it 'outside of the office'...well, she had never been able to gain a perspective upon the whole thing, herself...which she was then to do, in the office of SCARLETT'S POLICE....

from my own point of view....well, it isn't just the MIKE SUTTONs from IBM - is it?

additionally, if you really want INSIGHT...best to study real life rather than taking a pill like 'olanzapine'....
