oh and i am forgetting a really important point here...

having met his brother and parents 'at the station'...little georges was to inquire about the dog....you see the cook had a dog in the servants' quarters....and often the servants would leave the door open...the dog would escape, run through and george would love to have a 'rough and tumble' with the dog before it was recaptured and taken back through the door...georges wasn't interested in his brother or his parents...what he had wanted to know was if the dog was all right....georges wasn't allowed pets and neither was his brother...

the dog...as far as i can remember..well it reminded me very much of the 'dog at the OVAL'...the same type...a bit like a shaggy poodle...however, although mainly black and with a black face...the dog had white spots of shaggy fur here and there...so a mongrel then - not a pure breed....

in point of fact...the colouring and markings of the dog - were rather like the 'black and white cat' set loose around travelodge carpark recently....
