....8.30am....I was to give CHP another call...thinking that it might be better to cancel the appointment in order to make a formal one i.e. morning or evening upon a set day etc etc....go figure...

anyway, I then got 'julie' on the phone...who was very helpful indeed...she kept me on hold whilst she rang the electrician - who was to tell her that he wouldn't have bothered with my smoke alarm repair job anyway because that type of job wasn't on his priority list....and so I would have waited in all day etc etc....do you see what I mean?

she then told me that she would get hold of the 'day team' in order to book a formal morning appointment next week....I thanked her and replied that I would also email CHP to inform them of the situation....and request the earliest possible morning appointment....

I was also to ask Julie about the wires dangling from the ceiling...plastic-coated and so shouldn't be a problem should it? no, she didn't think so....oh but she was at a loss to explain why the smoke alarm had stopped bleeping even though it was still intermittently flashing 'red'....

oh and another thing...something that I hadn't been told....CHP residents/tenants aren't supposed to have to change those batteries in the 'hard circuit' mains connected alarms.....you see, the last smoke alarm that had been fitted in this flat....well it had simply been a battery one and we were supposed to replace those batteries when they ran down...however, the replacement smoke alarm is connected to the mains....now I wasn't told that I wasn't supposed to change the battery in the new smoke alarm...go figure....isn't that dangerous?
