....and what's new this Wednesday morning, then?....not much...I simply sent an email to CHP about that living room light bulb....after having remembered the time,  when that CHP electrician had come to call - see previous notes (about the smoke/fire alarms)....to then show me how to change the living room light bulb....I have no idea *why* he had thought that I would need to do that, at that specific point....because it was working 'fine', at that point in time....but figured that he was simply doing me a 'good turn'....anyway, he didn't find it as easy as he thought it might be....he fiddled around, for quite a while...then used a screw-driver....applied somewhat 'extreme force' - to then break the Chinese paper lampshade and one of its interior metal bands....the lightbulb dropped...he managed to catch it, before it hit the floor....successful operation...a stroke of luck etc etc....

...anyway, i was then to 'roll back the years' and remember 'old ken' and his mates 'up to no good' with that particular light fixture....along with younger and co....go figure.

and the above is why...I was to send the following email off to CHP, today - dear reader?...can you guess why?..."stupid masonic symbolism" replies BI ONLINE...."Cretans at work" replies MI5 ONLINE....you mean 'cretins'?....you see, so many years ago - now....gill and I, were to label CHP as 'idiot children' in the main - those like lee Jackson/ingabot etc etc....'those with a CHiP on their shoulder because they didn't have 'working brains' in their heads etc etc...although 'mr woolley' and his squaddies, working for CHP - were to mitigate the whole horrorshow, let us say....go figure:

 

anyway, you have to unscrew it and then you have to do 'something' with that 'switch' (on both sides)...either depress it, upon both sides (would require an electrician's 'tool') or force it to one side, or another (I've tried both, 'manually' with my fingers and 'nothing doing'):
