"remind me of it" emet was to tell me...after I had added an idea to his general theme...see previous notes upon emet having decided to write a book about the universal symbol of the cross - at the MI imperial hotel, jerusalem....and I had thought about frequency programs....computerised imaging....pentagon knowledge, experience of the world-upon-a-grid...in relation to what might fit in with 'that'?...the world upon a cross...

the east and the west....

the north and the south....

....most academic studies concerned with 'spirituality' and the cross...tend to feature illustrations from the middle-east and the west...sometimes they also include the far east but not that often....and so I was interested in comparative cultural studies...between the north and the south....for example, the Nordic and the African....and the historical travel/transport lines...the connections....the colonies, missionaries, conquests....Christianity had once been 'the language of freedom' from slavery...it had changed the face of the roman empire....oh and see previous notes upon the film JESUIT regarding missionaries in japan....

....and now?...according to recent polls...Christianity has been in a severe decline, within the UK and for decades...I can remember churches closing down all over the place, in b'ham - in the 70s/80s.....and so another factor would be...the decline of this religion...and what is replacing it etc etc....(see previous notes upon IVF...those born without that vital spark)....as it goes, eh?

...and finally, a picture paints a thousand words....I would personally opt for photo-journalism...let the reader make their own suppositions...draw their own conclusions....just include data/information about the cultural rite and population etc etc....to provide context...

franco zecchin had once given me a book of his photo-journalism...outlining the rites and rituals of the catholic church in sicily....and I suppose that is what had given me the idea, for the above...however, as marie-louise von franz says, in her book about shadow and evil, in fairytales...you need a cross-cultural comparison if you are to see the 'shadow'...i.e. what is hidden from yourself, within your own culture/personal world....go figure.
