The telescope was bought by Bernard Stoop. He gave it to the former director of the Leiden Observatory, Frederik Kaiser, to watch Halley's comet in 1835. The heirs of Stoop lent this refractor to the 1874 Dutch expedition on the isle of Reunion (France). Eventually Museum Boerhaave acquired the telescope of one of the members of De Beaufort family.
