let's have a look at Beijing....because that seemed to be a perfect example of how 'bicycle city' works...or rather an area where those on cycles/mobility scooters...as well as those on foot...can keep safe...my lasting impression of Beijing was of pedestrianised, wide open 'leafy' boulevards....cycle lanes...blue skies, white clouds and sunshine...because of the lack of car/petrol fumes etc etc...but then that was in 2003...oh dear - how times flies...etc etc...
