back to that novel....having had another look.....i can even remember roz and i, helping rimington to write bits of it....

(i am calling it a novel because it was based upon rimington's life experience but 'not' if you see what i mean - she certainly wasn't born in catford.)

 so roz and i,  offered suggestions - 'when she got stuck' that is....but for the most part, one has to say that she wrote it, in an 'impassioned way'....using that 'memory recall' drug...which enables you to remember 'every single detail'....

and 'with relish' as one can see - this is a woman who really enjoys her subject....a woman who has 'seen it all'....recalls all....and has an overview of life since the earlier part of the 20th century....rimington was born in the same decade as my parents....the 1930s....

the above FOOTNOTE is a case in point....rimington had got stuck - asked for help....roz supplied the 'hypodermic needles image' and i supplied the 'homeless men image'....

why do i note the above?

firstly because this novel is a bit of an academic treatise - isn't it?

you don't normally get footnotes in chicklit.

secondly because of what rimington was to write next....what did she mean....you see it was all metaphorical and she was thinking in a hideously horticultural way....

all i can remember so far is that her HYDRANGEAS were MCDONALD and SC....

royal guards in a way...but not officially upon the payroll....HYDE PARK RANGERS....
