...and what can I say but...first up...I was surprised at how young a certain 75 year old 'looked'...come to pay homage to his father....in fact, it was the second photo of a father come to pay homage to his own father - who had fought at Passchendaele...which was to make me wonder if the BBC had 'messed up'...surely his 'grandfather'?...my own grandfather had fought-in-the-mud in WWI (and produced a handwritten journal about it - see previous notes) anyway, the man doesn't look older than myself....

anyway, all in all....the whole thing 'upon first glance'...appears to be a suitable reminder of the hell of war....and why it must never happen again...a wake-up call, if you like....I was then to think about the political implications 'today'....the british royals invited over to Europe....to Belgium....and of course it is 'right' that the british army should be invited to take part....despite what the rest of the EU might think, about it....you see - the whole thing...leaves a certain statement 'hanging' - doesn't it?...a statement around the following:

we fought Nazism upon the continent.....go figure.
