THE BEDSITTING ROOM also came up yesterday - i must try and find a copy somewhere....it would be interesting to re-view that film, after so many years....i can remember seeing it at the 'arts lab' as a young teenager, with deborah mcdonough....we both enjoyed it but it was so surreal.....and yes deb and i used to go there to see french films there, quite a bit...the romantic ones 'golden oldies'....truffaut....'JULES ET JIM'...that sort of thing....always a bit 'strange' though....and rather nasty when you come to think about it....but at least it was an eyeopener onto the adult world.....that terrible love triangle between two men and a woman....anyway, it made a change from watching another hollywood 'lurve story'....and that reminds me of a brilliant pisstake of 'modern lurve' on icanhascheezburger...i wish that i had snipped it now....how 'love' is depicted between young men and women - via the woman's role on screen....and how 'BREAKING DAWN' rates as the worst possible role model imaginable....
upon reflection - i am sure that deb mcd was programmed with 'jules and jim'...i can remember her saying afterwards that she 'knew' that her life would be just like that....so a script that had been prepared for her by an ill cult god?
"which just goes to show how impressionable teenage girls can be at a certain age" replies SP....well yes, you are caught up by the emotional appeal and drama.....which makes 'BREAKING DAWN' and the rest of those films - really, really 'dangerous' in a way....
i say that and i haven't even seen any of those movies - just the trailers - that was 'enough'.
