OTHER NOTES:

this evening, i was to remember the following "an ad hoc brainstorming group" replies MI5 ONLINE.

and in relation to writing a script to identify that chemical plant...see previous notes...i can remember toby, swinton and tennant knocking out a script...although as swinton was to say "it'll never get past drawing board stage"...which was a pity because it was rather a good one...

a mystery tale of such proportions....into which we had decided to 'throw everything' surrounding the holliday 'luciferian cult'...'eat the heart of the rabbi event'....'the sacred and the profane' as well as 'holy prostitution' and within the catholic church..."along with the st john cult and the anti-christ" replies BI ONLINE....

...toby was to find a village that was suitable as a location...just outside of where THE HISTORY BOYS had been shot - see previous notes...

the basic idea surrounded a lovestory between two teachers at a local school (the woman is a newcomer to the village)...a 'jooish man on the run' who then turns up in a local village - obviously frightened...'and a rite upon a hill'...'the sacred hill'....a joke around "what is this? the wiccaman?" to be told "oh no, it's much worse than that..."

titles..."let's call it roll away the stones...." toby interjected "why not just call it WHY DON'T YOU....?" I followed with "and then a shot of a transistor radio in a local location to finish the line 'roll away the stones, sha la la la'...the popsong...it's in your face but might be quite subtle if done right"....tennant replied "with the dial pointing to radio caroline...208....M6"

the opening establishing shot of the village and surrounding countryside...shot through a window...pull back to focus upon a transistor radio in the foreground....because this is all about radiowaves isn't it?...and a biblical reference to the mysterious rolling away of the stone, from the tomb of the risen christ...

swinton and tennant then quickly improvised and organised much of the dialogue between the characters...to create the main content of the film...

the film was to end with the new teacher disappearing without a trace...tennant was to play another teacher at the school who had been having a passionate affair with her - he is firstly told that she is dead by the local priest but then begins to realise that it is as if she never existed, after a bit of digging that is...he then gets out his camera...he could prove she had existed - he had them both on tape...however, there is nothing on the tape but static interference...he walks to the window...the morning sun is much brighter that morning...he raises his hands to cover his eyes from the glare...ending shot...that chemical plant has just exploded....on the horizon....he begins to shout in horror...

anyway, i don't suppose that it ever saw the light of day...but imho it was a rather good script and plot...which the BBC might have made...if it were not 'too close to the bone' at the time...either that or 'not enough time and money'..."stephen daldry put the kibosh on it" replies MI5 ONLINE...."a military matter".

OTHER NOTES:

'the zit of doom' was a reminder of the above....go figure.
