with a sidelong glance at 'macklin street'....apparently all about an actor who lived to be 100 years old....murdered somebody over a poisoned wig - according to michael palin's etc etc....with a question mark over why tomlinson and toby had originally shared the same surname 'macklin'....go figure?

anyway, the following might interest alan bennett who had been something of a mathematician, himself....nota bene - palin had written that 'holly leaf' sky program....and there's more...i can remember sylvia (a couple of decades ago now) walking me around a certain part of covent garden to then head off to etc etc....she then began to talk in a little girl's voice...and nearly walked off the road, under a very smart car....mandelson was in it - in the passenger seat...he was to laugh and remark to the driver...sylvia then nearly managed to walk into the lamppost (still a somewhat old-fashioned 60s lamp type - at the time) and so i had to take her by shoulders, laughing...and redirect her back into the middle of the pavement....and all the time, she was tittering that 'wicked witch' laugh....hmmm...run by rodway etc etc?..."rodway making mistakes whilst trying to..."...yes, i 'get' it...oh and remember mandelson had acquired that chateau in bonnay - down the road from vieilley....rimington had then got a grip on him - appeared to be a fullscale war between etc etc at the time...go figure:
