...oh and something rather odd, which i had noticed in passing but not known what context to place it in....in short, oscar had said something to sylvia, after taking a carton of 'pink custard' out of the fridge.."remember this?"....as a programmer might do...before pouring it over some fruit crumble, to then give it to her - a reward for 'good behaviour', you understand...because she had managed to eat most of her supper...it was simply the "remember this?" - given in a warning tone, that had me stop and think.....but not to question, openly of course...lol....anyway, she had nodded rapidly, in response - like a small child and then scurried away with the bowl, to devour it with gusto, upon the sofa.....anyway, i'm just trying to take it all in and understand what was going on, here etc etc....go figure:

grandma clayton had said of sylvia as a child "she saves herself up for the pudding" etc etc...only really wanted to eat sweet things....some things never change, eh?...and she had remained a child, in many ways and for most of her life....for example, i can remember whalley laughing about a certain conversation that i had once had with her...after she had decided to give me a lecture upon married life and yes, she had just begun a new job as an NHS director of public health...."you see, the mother is soft and warm and cuddly and stays at home and looks after the babies"...and yes, she had said it all in a 'baby' sort of voice....and as per usual...i had adopted a 'parental' tone, with her....which i had done, all of my life - when she was 'like that'....and so i had decided to humour her..."and what does the mother feed her children?"....to the reply..."she eats choclit"....i then began to laugh and countered..."look mother, if they ask you to do a talk about sex education and family planning, in public health....i would strongly advise you to turn them down!"...she then returned to her adult alter and began to laugh heartily, with me....go figure.
