reminds me of an anecdote, told by RH...in his speech at my parents' golden wedding anniversary...the one about my mother advising her women patients to make pinprick holes in their 'dutch caps' if they wanted to get pregnant even though their husbands had said 'no'....for whatever reasons....it was the 60s, you understand...
