......and what's new this friday evening upon my reddit homepage, dazzlenation?....let me see...and well, remember that mitchell & webb 'ancient romans-had-VHS' archaeology sketch....because it turns out that apparently they really did have concrete....hmmm....my next question is: did they drink coffee?....apparently not - the ethiopians etc etc.....go figure:

oh and the hot topic here, for archaeologists et al appears to be all about turning water into wine and vice versa....until they go a bit off topic (whether they're historians or not) and start discussing stimulants in general....such as 'garum' related to worcestershire sauce....tea in the renaissance etc etc....go figure:

er....street lighting, anybody?

....and let me see...are we back to sarah ferguson with 'this one'?....lol...in a rather alternate dimension, naturally.....a roman governor's wife:

with a sidelong glance at romanizing rather than hellenizing....tongue-in-cheek, naturally....let's get the roman wine in - this greek stuff tastes like water or vice versa, depending upon which historian etc etc:

oh and i am reminded again of cathy waldegrave in that MOD wine cellar....all of those dusty, old bottles had been coded out...."rank and file" replies BI online - on the system....programming items etc etc....smashed the lot of them....nota bene the radio-controlled tarantula 'guardian' on the floor, at the time..."put out of operation".....along with that 'toga' party upon the 1980 MI5 russian course which the 'italian' element had joined....although as far as i can remember...only cipolla 'n' reddi were actually etc etc...helen browne had also been part of their contingent.....see previous notes upon 'all of that'....go figure.
