anyway, remember sylvia telling me to go for a confidential check-up at the 'brook clinic' in birmingham, to get the pill and condoms etc before going to poland to start my first EFL job with the british council ELC at silesia university?...'better to be safe than sorry' etc etc....she had told me not to go to my GP but to go there, for some reason.....perhaps because the whole thing was rather embarrassing in those days....despite the fact that i was 29 years old - 1992....anyway, the doctor in charge was bit like 'cassandra' - dare i say it, in her manner....sounded too 'thick' to be a doctor or nurse etc etc....anyway, she was really rough with the equipment....hurt me as she etc etc....anyway, she did one good thing and told me that my vagina had extensive scarring....she then told me that presumably i had as many children as her....apparently she had had 4......i faltered.....this was all so terrible....i barely had any memories.....all suppressed....of what had happened to me and since 11 years old...."i've never been pregnant...." - she laughed hoarsely at me.....sneering....she then told me that she was out of stock - regarding pills....and so i left empty-handed....go figure:
