oh and whilst we are on the topic of food....at all saints school....marr's gang used to have a 'roasters' competition, at dinnertime....how many roast potatoes can you eat....each one being a quarter of a potato.....Robert, who was being starved, most of the time...tended to clock in at 10 or 12...toddy then showed the gang...a reproduction of 'the potato-eaters'....."that's us!" etc etc....additionally, the gang were to find out that miss jones the headmistress had been filching from accounts....which is why the dinnerladies used to have trays and trays of 'roasters' but not much else etc etc...go figure:
