...anyway yesterday, my mother was to tell me that uncle michael's daughter, jennifer - is marrying a black pastor from the baptist church in ipswich...and that she and dad had been invited...she was looking forward to going because it might be quite interesting..."quite a few 'immersions' going on" she added....go figure...as to what that might be all about..."do they really immerse people (at weddings)..." i asked - thinking that 'immersion' was usually an 'initiation rite'....my mother just laughed...but didn't reply...

oh and before she had told me which church...i had queried firstly "the spiritualist church" because i had been approached by members of the black congregation, in ipswich - up the tuddenham road, now and then...along with a couple of white/asian-american women from the mormon church...oh and a couple of jehovah witnesses in manningtree...and in clacton? those young men in blazers...something around a 'united church'?

anyway, no...not the spiritualist church but the baptist church in ipswich - go figure...

the spiritualist church...one that pat andrew used to attend...whilst she was going through a 'rough patch'...how like pat...to choose the 'spiritual number'....

and the 'immersion number'...ha ha ha...well forgive me for thinking about boilers and immersion heaters...but you see - that is a 'sore point' at present...isn't it? see previous notes...does it all add up or not, i wonder?

what else?...well, despite having turned off the boiler, early on yesterday evening...even more water has gone missing from the tank...the arrow is even lower down that 'red outline box'...go figure.

what else? i was also left wondering about the 'state of play' in relation to my mother's family...my mother had told me, some time ago now...that uncle michael had 'gone mad' and was sleeping with a bible over his face...in case a 'black imp' attacked him...and according to my mother - he is now living in a bungalow in shotley (with his partner 'liz')...near to the fishwick's residence. what else? well i was also to think about uncle bobby's wife who had 'gone mad' whilst being a member of the jehovah witnesses (far more likely that he had driven her mad rather than any religious group - see previous notes)...and so what can one make of any of it? grandpa clayton used to be a 'server' at the local church in combs....and grandma clayton had apparently come from a plymouth brethren church background...a bit like the quakers....go figure.

OTHER NOTES:

the murder of that french priest...the whole thing - almost immediately made me think...'france is becoming like jersualem'...in relation to terrorist threats against churches...only one incident, though...let us hope it doesn't escalate.

hmmm...st james church...and the catholic church on carnarvon road, in clacton...both were locked...when i went to visit - some time ago now....such a shame...do you now have to make an appointment to gain access to churches, in this country? what if you don't want to join a 'service' but simply want a few moments alone, for a more personal communion....contemplation....etc etc...

....in view of the above...the locking up of churches when there isn't a service going on...well, so many years ago now...it had simply been a case of detering thieves and vandals...and now?
