"you're a failure in life" that is what that poor man had been told - whilst being 'trained' by US INTELLIGENCE.....as if they were giving him 'one last chance to prove himself'...and yes he had been a 'bunkie'.....on trumped up charges, i might add....framed up and he knew it 'once upon a time' but after so much brainwashing...he hardly knew anything anymore...the difference between fiction and reality.....

and no he doesn't look like a reptilian alien, in real life...he was actually rather a handsome man...a bit yul brynner/keanu reeves.....'a bit of the east' about his facial features....

anyway, just before entering the 'arena' he was given a 'gas' to inhale...that put him into an 'altered state' where it was far easier to 'focus' and carry out his role faultlessly...that is why you  can see him moving in a way that looks somewhat robotic...as if he is in a drugged trance...which is in essence, entirely the case...he was in a drugged trance but 'focused' if you see what i mean....

and the sandhurst mob had left this one in as a clue......the narrator states 'has' but the comment says 'gas'....

"a manchurian candidate" replies government intelligence online....you mean delta alter? well more like 'epsilon brainwave level' as far as i can remember....more 'E' than 'D' on the scale of things....a bit like focused dreaming....sleepwalking but in control of your 'dream'....
