 .....and this wednesday morning, i can finally remember what 'that one' i.e. my last post - had really been all about - dazzlenation...in short, it goes back to the 70s....potsy in cahoots with webb....."she must be thicker than we thought - its not necessary"....he had been talking about the slide-rule in maths.....whilst not taking into account the 'human factor' of checking - see point 2 below of 'functional advantages'....in short, i was used to making quick calculations that weren't entirely accurate but were in the ballpark, let us say....whereas the 'machine' wasn't and could therefore be so far 'out' in its calculations as to...."make very dangerous mistakes" replies BI online....couple that with tardville's preference for base 3 and there you have it....lol...webb had been unable to understand how a slide rule worked, for the life of him and had therefore been content to accept potsy's word etc etc....of course, the question now is - why had potsy thought that a slide-rule was irrelevant?....more laughter.......go figure:
