….and what’s new this thursday midday, dazzlenation?....well, having been to the dentist earlier on…the anaesthetic has worn off and as far as I can see…a sterling job done by the dentist - mr khan and his assistant veronica….a whole metal filling replaced and the cracks in that particular tooth have all been bonded…the injection to numb the pain was ‘painless’ but the ‘reverberating tool’ - whatever that is, after the drill - was worse than usual….anyway, since i am one of those people who hardly dares to admit it - even to myself but anyway, the dentist’s chair has always been conflated with the ‘electric chair’, to my mind…a lucky escape afterwards, as always….lol….makes you feel good to be alive, for a brief while afterwards etc etc….anyway, what i want to talk about is ‘afterwards’...the receptionist that i know best, wasn’t on, this morning…her friend was….with a newcomer….and once the surgery had been completed…i returned to the receptionist desk….to see nobody on it….all i could hear was a ‘rustling’ in the room behind….a room that appears to be a stock-room of types…..i stood and waited….somebody was rummaging behind, in that room…..and then i began to say “hello…?” etc etc…until the newcomer appeared….i wondered why she hadn’t left the desk covered…any patient coming out, has to pay their bill at reception….and that is where things get decidedly ‘odd’....she was to ask me to put my card into their handheld machine…she then told me to take it out….she then told me that the payment hadn’t gone through….she asked me to try again….she then took my-card-in-the-machine and placed it upon the desk before her….and once the transaction had gone through….she carefully took my card out, examined the back of it…and then handed my card back to me….hmmm…..did i say that she looked a bit like deb mcd would look at a certain age?....remember deb and her medical secretary job at solihull hospital and what she had got fired for, in the end?....hmmm…..nobody looks at the ‘three numbers’ upon the back of a card, unless they have a criminal intent to do so, let us say...and yes, i had been reminded of what had happened at eaglehurst, once i had reported etc etc....stockrooms, eh?...keys to the medical cabinet/drugs etc etc...….go figure.
