...and what's new upon the BBC site, then? ...oh, this is an odd one, dazzlenation....off the top of my head....i can understand the need for a tunnel, in relation to the congestion being caused by so many tourists-in-vehicles...however, i do not understand why anybody would want to close the original road down...why not keep it open and put a toll upon it....that way, everybody wins....the tourist option is still open....and other motorists can choose the quicker route, if they so wish....go figure:

oh and why do people (in comments) think that the tunnel will be built directly underneath stonehenge?....because from the following map...it looks like an underground 'bypass'....go figure:
there is more to this than meets the eye, isn't there - dazzlenation?...and funnily enough, it takes me back to 1996/7 at warwick...remember the programmed 'sabina sharkey' and her 'block of wood' stint etc etc....the students upon my course had been drugged by kuhiczak/bassnett/quasi-collie etc etc....however, the class had come prepared...with their recorders...which they would arrange in a pile - upon a table, in front of sharkey...and i used to laugh that the 'monument' of recorders, in front of her....had been 'staged' to look at a bit like stonehenge....oh and then sharkey mysteriously disappeared....never to be seen again, as far as i know...see previous notes upon 'all of that':
