....and what's new this Friday evening, dazzlenation?...well, Netflix sent me an email with a link to the ITV series 'Victoria' attached as well as 'the mayfair witches' by Anne rice.....and having viewed the opening titles of both....I was firstly struck by a certain similarity of looks, regarding the female leads....secondly, 'jenna coleman' - the actress chosen to represent 'jade laing'...."her accent had been used" replies BI online...yes, accent but not looks - regarding that Dr who 'assistant' role.....she had been made to look like 'anna ford' - tv news presenter for most of her working life...."plastic surgery"...and lots of it, according to McGowan....I was then to step back from it all...to laugh - having realised 'why' Anna Ford had become so iconic and so very quickly, in British culture....although I daresay that no journalist had made the comparison, at the time....Ford had been so very regal and yet 'humble' in her service....in short, I would guess that her iconic face had been a subconscious reminder of an image we all knew only too well but passed over, so many times because it wasn't 'relevant' anymore in British cultural life....i'm talking about her similarity to the young queen Victoria....go figure:
