OTHER NOTES:

this evening i was to remember what MI5 had found out about john scarlett's family....and so let us just say this...i haven't looked at scarlett's biographical wiki entry and i will do so after recounting what MI5 had found out about his real history....in order to compare and contrast...the following is an 'alternative version' let us say:

the investigation was to begin around sandhurst...how had scarlett ended up 'best friends' with prince charles? the rest of sandhurst hated the pair of them...prince charles because he was a 'vegetable' and scarlett because he was 'middle-class'....well if the truth be told....scarlett had started off in the 'scullery' as it were....spying upon the new recruits...learning everything that he could possibly do...about their manners and ways...in order to pass himself off as 'one of them'...later on.....and it was quite possible....'lords and masters' rarely notice servants...and that is to their detriment.

and how had he ended up in the scullery? well let us now go back in time...to the north of england...his mother was what was known as 'a time-keeper' at a local factory...she used to clock everybody 'in' at the beginning of the day...but there was more to her role than that....a bit of a 'timelord' let us say...and yes she knew quite a bit about mind control....what about scarlett's father? well he had dealt in contraband throughout WWII and made a pretty penny out of it...he didn't trust banks...and so his money had been hidden around the house, in various places...sometimes just 'wads of notes' under a clock on the mantlepiece for example...and curiously enough - even though his wife always knew where it was...she never touched a penny....and he was mean with the housekeeping, let us say...."we were puzzled as to why she never touched it - mind control must have been involved"....in short, scarlett's father was more adept at being a 'mind control' magician, than his wife....

...and what of scarlett? well his early history had been much the same, as rimington's...in short, he had murdered another child...whilst only a child himself...to then be sent to what one might call an early 'borstal'...a house of correction etc etc....and after that, his first work placement had been at sandhurst....a job in the scullery....

the scullions and the scullery...and you wonder why the taschmanns were to make such a big deal out of GORMENGHAST programming? "they had been touching upon it"....
