oh i remember now...'so-called best friend' had a first name...and that was catherine....catherine sparks?
...'the other one' was to tell me 'that one' too....i then asked her if she preferred cathy or kate...because most catherines that i have known...tended to shorten their name....'kaz' for example - in relation to caroline stokes....
anyway, she replied coldly that her name was catherine....the other one then joked "catherine the great"...she gave him a steely stare...he then told me that his father was russian...by way of explanation, i suppose...but of what? the fact that he had russian parentage....or russian relatives....let me see - i would guess that he was making a distinction then....he might be of russian descent but he wasn't descended from royalty/aristocracy...something like that?
...and in looks? well he had that sort of 'russian ashkenazim jooish look' i suppose...you know the type of thing...a bit ben elton...or 'that bloke off of THE OFFICE'...although i hasten to add that he was nothing like him, 'in character'....and nor was he that tall or overweight....
i loved that THE OFFICE character...more than any of the others....see previous notes upon that 'interview sketch'...where the boss is trying to make him fill in a questionnaire...and all he wants to do is to tick the 'don't know' boxes....because he is essentially a 'frightened child'...one big scared rabbit, seated across the table - from the boss....rigid with fright, in his chair...without the social skills or the acting ability to play the game of 'let's pretend'....in order to mask his fear...and get the interview/assessment etc over with.
in short, gill...somewhere deep inside...i empathised with that frightened child, to a T....and that is why i was to love the character, so much....additionally you'd just want to give him a hug, wouldn't you? although if a woman colleague had done so - in a hypothetical situation, that is...it would have provoked a conflict...did he turn out to be gay, in the end? i cannot remember....
'BIG KEITH'S APPRAISAL' oh how could I forget? anyway, having watched it again...maybe keith is just taking the piss eh? having not seen that sketch for so long...I was to figure that he must have been scared...but with his hand on the table...keith is really quite an aggressive character, isn't he? "fight or flight" replies MI5 ONLINE...oh yes, that would be it - wouldn't it?
if it had been 'little colin'...you'd just have to wave the bag of sweets, in front of him...in order to get 'cooperation'...wouldn't you?
