notes from the other day:

...yesterday, i was to think about A TEAM programming with 'truffles'...and B TEAM programming with 'caviar'....

to then think about 'the democratisation of culture'...."bums on seats - you vote with your £5 at the weekend for a film at the cinema...or you spend it upon something else - if there is nothing else on, worth your while - is that what you mean about 'the democratisation of culture, sabina?"...

those like sabina - were an oddity...they didn't know how to 'translate' from ivory tower language to 'the real world'....which is ....."more than dangerous for the rest of us' replies BI ONLINE.

...but what is even "more dangerous for the rest of us"...is that the 'ingabots and weales' of this world - had been given the real meaning of academic texts, such as the above....but whether they could remember it all and make the connections again, is another question, isn't it?....because we are talking about the real 'remedial class of life' here - in relation to ingabots, weales and RHs, aren't we?

....i.e. those who were then allowed to go up the academic tree quickly...without having had to 'hack through dense thickets of academic text' according to heather laing, at warwick university circa 1997...i loved her for 'that one'.....because she was telling the truth about finding 'meaning' in most modern academic texts 'one new gold nugget of wisdom perhaps - in the whole lot'...and a regurgitation of what everybody else had thought ad infinitum...

heather was also using a SLEEPING BEAUTY metaphor....as if she, herself, was the 'valiant prince'...who was hacking on through...to save herself as 'sleeping beauty'....shades of insularity and narcissism? no, not that....simply, a psyche attempting to save itself....to 'wake itself up'...

so what was the overview? sabina might not have made it onto the A TEAM but she had managed to get into academe and became 'one of those' who couldn't translate from their 'ivory towers' to the 'real world' because they weren't favoured by the ill cult (and so sabina simply used to memorise random chunks of academic text and regurgitate it, during lectures)....B TEAM = those who could find out what the A TEAM had been told 'as higher knowledge'...they then had to make the connection to 'the real world'...."but then they often used it for their own ends - regarding politicians" replies MI5 ONLINE.

...let me recap...so 'academic texts' are a puzzle to most...unless you have the keys - and very simple ones, at that....and so one has to ask why 'academic texts' tend to lock up 'wisdom' in such puzzling language? ....and the keys had been given to...."idiot children like mike weale - in genetics" replies MI5 ONLINE.

.....because the process of 'finding out the meaning of whatever has been written - within modern academic texts' is an intelligent one, granted...'hacking through dense thickets of text'....as HL was to put it....not having been 'blessed' with an 'inga' for a mother...etc....

...and when, like HL....you have the 'idiot child - fast stream' working alongside you - and the 'idiot child' has been told all of the simple meanings - and also told that they don't even need to read the academic texts in question....well, how much of a chance do you have, in relation to 'the whole run of things' within academe?
