"....translated Russian research?" something is coming back around that one now...it had to be translated a lot more than that...before it 'made it', into Russian - didn't it? how do I explain 'that one'?

....well it was rather like the Italian and greek MA students at warwick...helping me to work out a 'TEFL/linguistics text'....set as 'homework' for a Chinese student who was doing an MA in tefl....almost every other word was not in a linguistics dictionary...in short, most of the vocabulary and some of the verbs - had been made up...no joke...so what sort of a 'bad joke' was that upon those students in that MA class? anyway, we were to pull our knowledge of etymology...in order to get all possible meanings from each word....and then I had to segment groups of words in each sentence....give each group an overall 'cover word'...I had to do this process 3 times....in order to narrow down what the article was all about...to finally realise that the subject was something around "when people um and ah before they speak...what do you think about that then? as a speech act..."

well, I 'knew' what the above was all about...because mkultra slaves are taught, from an early age...to make certain 'sounds' before they speak...it is a code of sorts....er, ah, um...mmmm....hmmmm etc etc..
