oh I remember now...'col the sol' used to sleep with turner, whilst at dartington...until one day, he saw her bare feet sticking out from under the quilt...he was so repulsed that he never went back...isn't it all terrible? childhood torture...the equivalent of footbinding, in a way...turner had been made to wear shoes too small for her...and then told that she had that 'bone disorder' whatever it was called (marie charcot? something like that)...see previous notes....
