in my day (late 1980s when the whole horror occurred), there were far more cars - parked 'chockablock' on either side of the road...and the hedges/undergrowth/bushes were even more 'overgrown'...
anyway, I can remember now...I was to tell sue McManus that if I ever walked down there...during the daytime...that I always walked by the church and not by the other side....and not near to number 1 st bernards....sue was to reply that it wasn't safe there, either...a woman had been attacked in the church carpark recently...and she had been so badly frightened....that she had refused to talk to the police about it, afterwards...so the implication was that she could have given them information as to the identity of the attacker...in fact, let me scan for more information...it was likely that he had attended that church...that she had met him before....she had done, hadn't she?..."such a nice young man - how could he do such a thing?"...so somebody had managed to get her to talk but not to the police..."and it's likely that he was renting a room in number 1 st bernards road" replies MI5 ONLINE....
...and the red car in Travelodge carpark had been put in as a 'reminder'...so he had used that car...down OLD WARWICK ROAD? "that is what we suspect" replies MI5 ONLINE.
