a rather sinister video link...the warning came in 2006....products released in 2010-2012 were affected:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04404446

anyway, the video itself is quite helpful....at least HP say that they can help - if you can id the date on a sticker...there is no sticker upon that LS-15 cord...but I can make a note of what is on the adapter....

www.hp.com/support/powercordreplacement

now it takes a very suspicious mind...such as myself - whilst nearing the end of a 13th one ill cult game to think that HP are up to something...

for example...they will not tell you 'by the details upon the adapter' if it is 'one of those affected or not'...

instead, they want you to UNPLUG your cord....presumably they want you to run your laptop from battery...this laptop wasn't sold with a battery in it....

and if you hadn't read the instructions carefully and were to 'continue' within the program upon their site...with your cord PLUGGED in...can you guess what might happen?

hmmm...I think that it is best to do 'all of this' upon a library computer - 'just in case':
