OTHER NOTES:

i was to write a 'muddled post' this morning because there really wasn't any other way of 'covering it all'...so many different strands to cover in my notes...

...anyway, this evening i was to remember something that might 'tie it all together' and it begins and ends with the taschmanns turning up in poland 1993/4..."we're FRUM ireland" the eldest taschmann was to quip...

firstly i can remember an IATEFL conference in an expensive towerblock hotel...it was in krakow, wasn't it? one of the main cities at any rate...i had been booked in with..."a taschmann ma" replies MI5 ONLINE...an aristocratic anglo-irish lecturer at the university of silesia who used to work as a british council boss...but then got married to a polish businessman and settled down...to work 'now and then' in an academic capacity within the polish academic system as far as i know...anyway, i turned up at the hotel for that weekend conference with the 'dreaded lurgy'...i was supposed to share a room with her...she then, immediately found another room...and so i was left alone that first evening...for the "we're FRUM ireland" crew to turn up at that hotel....colin was to turn up very late that night...after a long night in the bar, with the rest of them - to crash out...he then got up in the middle of the night...extremely hungry...i had eaten all of my sandwiches and so handed him that 'room service' plastic piece of paper...he then ordered 'quite a bit'...anyway, the next day i was given a 'radio set' and told "you know what to do" by the 'FRUM ireland' crew...they were to give a presentation downstairs...whilst i twiddled the dials and knobs as well as pushing 'integers' in and out (an MOD term)....so what had it all been about? i can remember goscia complaining "but the communists are our only hope"....as far as i know...the 'frum ireland crew' were teaching polish engineers how to block a certain signal....and successfully as it turned out. i have no more information upon 'that number'...

apart from the latest edition of NEXUS and an ANP advert upon the back...the 'frum ireland crew' had decided to call their presentation 'ANP'....go figure....

 

what else? well goscia was to note the 'pendant' that the eldest taschmann was wearing during the 'frum ANP' presentation..."I'm sure that i'll recognise it again" she was to whisper  to Teresa...well there you go...somebody was to 'put together' that dvd THE WOMEN in relation to the very attractive 'young mothers-in-the-main' who used to work as EFL teachers at the university of Silesia....with the pendant that the eldest taschmann had been wearing during that 60s themed ANP presentation on the groundfloor of that Krakow hotel.

 

oh and before I forget....Richard harris was also to turn up and 'do his thing'...Sonia and mark vizard were to tell me about it, afterwards...

 

 

 ...on top of that...I was to remember another excursion...this time it was to a hotel in the mountains...an EFL residential course for the weekend...I was given the key to my room...to find out that it was massive - with so many beds...a very long but narrow room with French windows and a balcony at the end....guess who turned up 'soon after'? the 'frum Ireland crew'...

 

anyway, they were to leave early on...all of them apart from colin...who stayed on another night...goscia was then to complain that the polish EFL teachers should have had that room because it was much larger than the one that they were sharing....Richard harris then treated her and Teresa to a holiday in a very expensive hotel, afterwards....go figure what that was all about...for my own part - I am only surprised that I can remember 'that much'....considering that it all happened 'so long ago'...over 20 years now...and for most of my life - I couldn't remember any of it...

 

oh and that Krakow hotel and 'room service'...I can remember that Anglo-Irish lecturer being handed the bill for that room...she then said loudly "but I didn't order anything from room service and I told you not to, Emily - did you?" I replied that I certainly hadn't done...I couldn't remember a thing - even then...anyway, as far as I now know...the bill was eventually forwarded on to Richard harris.
